Hello brothers and sisters, I am currently dealing with some personal family issues that are testing mine and my parents faith. Our pastor at my home church preached a sermon on praying and fasting. He didn't really go into minute details on how to pray and fast. I know it can be a powerful thing to do and feel God calling me to do this for these trials were going through. One thing I'm confused on is how to do it. If I am going to fast and pray does that mean I need to do it on a day that I do not go into work and spend all day or however long this fast is praying or can I do it while I'm at work and cant spend all day in prayer? This is where I am confused. Please feel free to share your wisdom or advice because I will be very thankful for it.

If you do a really long fast. However long the fast was you should do half that amount of time in light foods like salads and soups since your body has to get back into eating regular food.

Fasting is denying the flesh. All kinds of ways to fast. All kinds of things to give up or even do, which the flesh doesn't like, as a commitment to God.
I would pray and let God appoint the fast, rather than fast in my own understanding.
