I was just informed that when we take communion we are not suppose to imagine us literally eating Jesus flesh and drinking his blood. But instead focus on his suffering on the cross. What am I suppose to dwell on when I take communion?

" For I received from the LORD what I also passed on to you: The LORD Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the LORD's death until he comes. " - 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Well the bible says make sure not to take communion unworthily. But to answer your question, well in my opinion i don't think you need to dwell on or imagine anything other than the fact that you recognize you are doing it in remembrance of Christ.

What am I suppose to dwell on when I take communion? Sorry, but this one made me smile. I never thought to imagine myself literally eating His flesh and drinking His blood. In regards to communion, there’s a good amount that I’ve learned. Art Katz and Derek Prince talk about taking communion everyday. How communion is that special time with the Lord and without it, they could not live how they do. Doug has a cool video on communion. I’ll share something (when I’m on my desktop) Neville Johnson has written on communion. There’s just so much in depth stuff when it comes to communion.

So if we decide to take communion, do we just get bread and grape juice and do it alone with God? Can we do it anytime? How do you know if your worthy of doing it if the bible say not do do it unworthily? How do you guys do it if you do do it?
